Ann C. Casper

Cedar Hill, TX - Ann Constance (Metcavitch) Casper, age 95, a former resident of Lowell who
was active in the Lithuanian community in Lowell, died Monday morning, Oct. 2, at the Cedar
Hill Health Center, following a long period of declining health. She was the wife of the late
Joseph A. Casper, who died in June 1963.
She was born in Lowell, June 13, 1911, a daughter of the late Simon and Constance (Bazutis)
Metkavitch, and was a lifelong resident of the city. She moved to Texas in 2001, due to health
concerns.
She was educated in Lowell schools, and in her earlier years, was an actress in the greater Lowell
and Lawrence theaters, was an active member of the St. Peter’s Church community, and St.
Joseph’s Lithuanian Church. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality,
was a member of both the St. Peter’s Girl Scout and Boy Scout Women’s Auxiliary, and co-
founder of St. Joseph’s Lithuanian Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She also served on the Board
of Directors for the Greater Lowell League of Catholic Women. She served on many committees
and the Executive Board for the Keith Academy Parent Teachers Association and Keith Hall
Mother’s Guild. She was a Charter Member and the first president of the Women’s Auxiliary of
the Grand Duke of Lithuania Vytautas (DKLV) Club in Lowell, and the first president of the
DKLV women’s bowling league. For many years, she served on the committees for the various
city festivals sponsored by the International Institute held at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
She had also worked for Lowell’s election commission, as a poll worker at St. Anthony’s hall.
Following the death of her husband in 1963, she worked as a fancy stitcher in Lowell’s shoe
industry.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph G. Casper of Moody, Maine, Michael P. Casper and his wife
Christine (Mockler) Casper of Dennis, MA, Robert C. Casper and his wife Denise (Allard) of
Chelmsford; a daughter, Ann Marie Redding of Cedar Hill, TX; nine grandchildren, Michael D.
Casper, Colleen A. Casper, Scott J. Casper, Cynthia L. Bourque, Tiffany A. Bilodeau, Matthew
Casper, Johanna Shelton, Barbara Kim, and Christine Fain; fifteen great grandchildren, Katelyn
Casper, Patrick Casper, Thomas Casper, Jeremy Bourque, Joshua Bourque, Zachary Casper,
Brandon Fain, Shannon Fain, Cameron Fain, McKensie Kim, Caroline Kim, Isabela Casper, Crista
Bilodeau, Mathew Laubach, and Christopher Laubach ; and a dear family friend, Robert C.
MacDonald of Moody, ME.
Her Funeral Mass was held Friday, Oct. 6, in the Immaculate Conception Church, Lowell, followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Lowell.
