David H. Holt, 71, of Palmetto, Florida formerly of Mansfield died on Thursday September 28, 2006 at Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood, MA. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Spencer) Holt to whom he was married to on October 5, 1957.
Born in Mansfield, MA on February 24, 1935 he was a dear son of the late Malcom and Emily M. (Holmes) Holt, Sr.
Educated in Mansfield schools, he was a 1952 graduate of Mansfield High School. He went on to become a 1956 graduate of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. A retired pharmacist, Mr. Holt had worked at Rhode Island Hospital for 15 years before retiring in 2001. He had formerly worked at Rhode Island Hospital for 20 years where he served as Vice President and Chief Pharmacist and was formerly employed at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro where he had worked for 10 years.
David was a member of the Orthodox Congregational Church in Mansfield. He was a member of St. James Lodge of Masons AF & AM in Mansfield. He was a member of the Royal Arch Chapter of Foxboro and the Kiwanis Club of Attleboro.
His hobbies included fishing, gardening, traveling, snowmobiling and vacationing in Maine. He especially enjoyed the times spent with his loving family. David had a special fondness for his pets. He had lived in Florida for the past 4 years and was a former lifelong resident of Mansfield.
In addition to his beloved wife of 49 years; he is survived by his devoted children Gregory A. Holt, Sr. and his wife Kerry of Mansfield, Diane E. Ramsay and her husband Andrew of Rumford, Rhode Island and Susan J. Curran of Rumford, Rhode Island. His brother and sister; Malcom Holt, Jr. and Barbara Nelson both of Utah. His cherished grandchildren; Gregory A. Holt, Jr., Jeffrey D. Holt, Jessica Curran, David Ramsay and Christina Ramsay. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday Oct. 2nd at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will be held at a later date at Rock Hill Cemetery, Foxboro.
Visiting hours have been omitted. David’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701.
