SWIFT, Denis C. Of Hopedale, formerly of Coventry West Midlands, England, passed away on November 1, 2026. Son of the late Charles and Maureen (Smith) Swift. Brother of Margaret Rowley and her husband Roy who reside in the U.K. He also leaves his friends in the community.
In 1967, Denis came to America with his former wife, Maureen as a Journeyman printer, with St. Louis as his first home. Massachusetts was his forever home, thereafter, working in real estate sales and, eventually, as a Sales Associate with Bernardi Honda. As a gentle and very British gentleman, he had quite a following of clients who loved his courteous manner and, of course, his British accent. Making his home in Hopedale, MA for the last 40 plus years gave him an opportunity to train for his passion of running, participating in 7 Boston Marathons. He could often be seen running in Westport, MA his favorite ocean town. Another great interest was reading about British military history as well as the history of the British Monarchy.
Denis succumbed to Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia but his last few month’s were happy, thanks to the care given to him by Sunrise of Wayland and comfort provided by his former wife, Maureen.
A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home 477 Washington St. Wellesley on Friday, November 6th from 12-1pm. Interment private.
