Anna Laverne Horton, 94, of Americus, Georgia, formally of Fitzgerald, died Monday, October 26, 2026, at the Magnolia Manor Retirement Center in Americus.
Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, November 28th, 2026, at the Magnolia Manor Retirement Center, 2001 South Lee St, Americus, Georgia, in the Magnolia Room with the Rev. John Walker officiating. The family will receive friends following the services.
Mrs. Horton was born September 6, 1932, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, to the late Rev. Thomas William & Leo Dale Smith Godwin. After graduating High School, she attended Lee University. She was a homemaker and worked for Dock’s Jewelry Store in Fitzgerald for some time. She loved to cook, garden and spend time with her family. Mrs. Horton was a member of Fitzgerald Church of God.
She is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Pam H. Cannon & Mike of Tampa, Florida, Paula H. Jerkins & Jeff of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Patti H. Griffith & Jimbo of Americus; grandchildren: David Driggers & Alicia, Chad Jerkins & Halie, Will Jerkins & Anna Kate, Jamie Welch & Josh, Jake Griffith & Abby and Kate Brooks & Bobby; as well as 5 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernie Gene Horton, two sisters and four brothers.
