October 12, 1967 – October 22, 2026
Michael Stephen O’Connor of Dorchester passed away suddenly on October 22nd following a brief illness. He was the beloved son of the late Richard F (Tarz) and Doris I (Mag) O’Connor. He was also preceded in death by his cherished sister, Maureen (Willy) O’Connor.
Michael was the beloved brother of Christine Teehan and her husband Thomas of Flower Mound, TX and Richard O’Connor and his wife Kathleen of Fayetteville, NC. He also leaves behind Lauren Baker with whom he shared many years of love and companionship.
He was a loving and fiercely protective uncle to his nieces Jessica Tibbs and Brittany (her husband Tony) Floyd of Texas as well as Samantha, Rachel, Taryn and Keri of North Carolina. Michael was the proud great uncle of Zayden, Kyla and Margaret Irene (Mags) of Texas. Michael treasured time with his “littles,” teaching the girls to stay aware and protect themselves and showing Zayden how to build strength. His love for them shone through in the lessons he shared when they spent time together.
He was a life long friend, cousin & ‘brother’ to Edward (Eddie) O’Connor and a devoted Godfather to SeanO. Michael also leaves behind many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his best friend, Catherine (Cathy) Galvin.
Michael had a larger than life personality and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending days at the beach, swimming in the ocean and watching sunsets & admiring a full moon while sitting on the porch enjoying a cigar. Michael loved listening to Irish music, playing the bagpipes with IBEW Local 103 Pipes & Drum, scuba diving, skiing, a good PS1 game of golf with his buddy Craig and long walks & playful cuddles with his favorite pups Tiny and Mini.
Michael’s career in HVAC started at the age of 12 tagging along with a family friend and eventually led to years of service at The World Trade Center Boston and beyond. There he developed friendships and became known as the Mayor of Northern Ave.
Michael will be sorely missed, but the love he gave, the lessons he taught, the friendships he cherished and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those of us who were blessed to be a part of his life.
Family and friends are cordially invited to celebrate Michael’s life and share stories with his family on Thursday, October 29th 5:00- 8:00 PM at Casper’s Funeral Home in South Boston. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 30th at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine’s Chapel, 181 Dorchester Street, South Boston.
In lieu of flowers, the O’Connor family requests donations be made in Michael’s memory to Beyond T1D – Team Zayden or a charity of your choice.
