Obituary

Robert Francis (Kane) Meyers, of Malden, MA, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving wife and family, on September 13, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born Robert Kane in Charlestown, Massachusetts, on October 26, 1938, he was the son of the late Francis M. Kane of Charlestown, MA, and the late Helen Barclay Meyers of Malden, MA. Bob grew up with a spirited sense of adventure and a determination that stayed with him throughout his life. He became a self-reliant, resilient, and hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family, including more than 30 years of service with the MBTA.

After serving in the United States Air Force, Bob met Diana in 1965. They shared 61 years together, building a life centered on family. His love for her remained his greatest priority, and even as his health declined, his concern was always that she would be cared for.

Affectionately known to his family as “Bob the Builder,” Bob rarely hired anyone for a job he believed he could do himself. Whether repairing something around the house or tackling an ambitious project, he always found a way to figure it out. He was generous with his advice and remained the first person everyone called when a project needed another opinion.

Bob loved animals, especially the family dogs and his beloved Blue. He enjoyed walking the dogs around the reservoir, spending days on the boat, and hearing stories about fishing, wildlife, and the outdoors. Above all, he loved his family. He followed his children’s and grandchildren’s lives with constant interest and enormous pride, finding joy in their accomplishments and everyday adventures.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Diana Aivalikles Meyers of Malden, MA; his son, Daniel Meyers of Bedford, NH, formerly of Malden and Georgetown, MA; his stepdaughter, Dr. Margo Moskos, and her husband, Dr. David Burns, of Lexington, MA; and his three cherished grandchildren, Jacob Meyers of East Boston and Georgetown, MA, Dr. Stacey Burns of Lexington, MA, and Alex Burns of Boston, MA.

He was the brother of the late Richard Meyers and brother-in-law of Richard’s wife, Carol, of Malden, MA. He is also survived by his half brother, Daniel A. Meyers of Rye, NH, and his family, as well as his half sister, Nancy Meyers Dunlea of Melrose, MA, and her family.

Bob will be deeply missed for his love, determination, humor, and familiar words of advice: “You know, what you really should do is…” His voice and the lessons he shared will remain with his family always.

He was laid to rest in a private ceremony on September 17, 2026, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford, MA.
