Theodore J. Howard, 76, of Duxbury, formerly of Marshfield and Belmont, died September 26 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth.
Born in Norwood, graduated from Belmont High School and Burdett College.
A retired insurance auditor for the Hartford Insurance Co. for 35 years.
Resident of Duxbury for 29 years and a life long summer resident of Marshfield.
Member of Duxbury American Legion Post and former member of the Kingston Lions Club, he had also served in the National Guard for 18 years.
An active member and former treasurer and senior warden at Trinity Episcopal Church in Marshfield Hills, and a former vestryman at St. Paul’s Church in Albany, N.Y
Devoted to family, friends and church, he was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. He had also recently been teaching cribbage to third graders at the Alden Elementary School in Duxbury to help develop math skills.
For 52 years the loving husband of Marlene (Hamilton) Howard. Father of Linda and Phil Sutton of Burlington, MA, Jeffrey and Diane Howard of Milford, MA, and Laurie and Robert Fournier of Hanover, MA. Grandfather of Michael and Emily Sutton, Alexander Howard, Bradley and Nicole Fournier. Brother of the late Russell Howard of Marshfield and the late George Howard of Estero, FL. Brother-in-law to Rachel Howard of Hingham, Theresa Howard of Estero, FL, and the late Natalie Carrig of Arlington, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours are at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Route139, Marshfield, Friday, September 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.
A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, September 30 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 229 Highland St., Marshfield Hills.
