Auburn – Rev. Thaddeus X. Stachura, 90, of Auburn and a priest for the Diocese of Worcester passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2026 in UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after an extended illness.
Father Ted was born in Auburn, MA and graduated from the former Saint Peter’s High School in Worcester and then attended the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester and Orchard Lake at Saint Mary’s in Orchard Lake, MI before graduating from SS. Cyril and Methodius Seminary also in Orchard Lake, MI.
Upon his graduation from seminary, Father Ted returned to his home Diocese, and was ordained as a priest on May 7, 1964 in the Cathedral of Saint Paul by Bishop Bernard J. Flanagan. Father Ted was assigned as an associate to Saint Mary’s Church, Uxbridge; Saint Catherine of Sweden Church, Worcester; Saint Joseph Church, Webster and our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester. He was then appointed pastor in 1983 returning to Saint Joseph Church, Webster and spending the last 21 years as pastor at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester from 1993 to 2014.
In addition to being a priest for the Diocese of Worcester, Fr. Ted served in the capacity of Headmaster at the former Saint Mary’s School in Worcester. He always looked forward to his time with the students and faculty of the school. His dedication to the school was unmeasurable and would often use his own personal funds to help support the school in times of need.
Father Ted dedicated his life to the parishioners of the churches that he was assigned. He had the gift of being an excellent public speaker, which was evident in his homilies that personally touched many mass attendees throughout the years.
During the little free time that he had, he enjoyed fishing and reading, especially adventure novels and anything in the history genre. Father Ted never missed an opportunity to have intelligent banter with those in his presence. He always placed the needs of others before himself and that was evident amongst his family, of whom he always enjoyed to spend as much time as possible with them.
Father Ted is predeceased his parents, John J. Stachura Sr. and Helen R. (Rudnik) Stachura; four brothers, John J. Stachura Jr., Joseph P. Stachura, Thomas M. Stachura and Paul Stachura and sister, Mary H. Renaud. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21 from 4 to 6:30 PM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St. Worcester with a vigil service to be held at 6:30PM.
The funeral for Fr. Ted will be held on Thursday, October 22 with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Most. Rev. Robert J. McManus, at 11 AM in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St. Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery, Webster.
