Joseph P. Mahoney beloved husband, father, and son died unexpectedly on September 27, 2026.
Joe was a lifelong resident of Belvidere in Lowell. Joe grew up loving to play baseball, with his mom teaching him how to pitch and to catch. He played baseball through high school and carried that love into adulthood by enjoying the Red Sox. Joe graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
He worked at Lowell Superior Court for 33 years, first as an office associate, then quickly became the Assistant Clerk of the criminal session. Joe was passionate about helping as many people as he could during his time with the court system and was beloved by all he worked with over the years.
Joe loved spending time in Portsmouth NH with his wife on the weekends, going for long walks in his neighborhood every night, and spending time with his two children, Molly and John, and of course, his beloved large fluffy cat, Boosh.
Joe enjoyed a good cup of coffee, especially if it came from Cumberland Farms. He loved listening to music, especially if it was anything from the 80’s. He was an avid Boston sports fan, a huge history buff, and an excellent BBQ chef when it came to the grill. Thanksgiving and Saint Patrick’s Day were his favorite holidays, and he had seen every last movie about World War 2 ever made.
Joe will be forever missed by his wife Becky, whom he shared 34 years of marriage with, his daughter Molly and her husband Ed of Chelmsford, MA, and his son John Mahoney of Lowell, MA.
