
James Raymond Henschel, 92 of Oxnard Ca passed away on October 7, 2026.
Jim was born In Indianapolis, IN to Lucille Pohlman on June 23, 1934. He moved to Illinois and grew up there. He was adopted by his father John Henschel and joined the military in 1953. He served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Norton Sound in Port Hueneme. He met Beverly Caputo, at a party in Ventura and they married in January1956. Later that year their first child Michael (D) was born. After leaving the Navy they returned to Illinois and where they had their 4 daughters, Donna (Rod), Bonnie(David), Dorothy(Terry), and Janet(James). They decided they liked California and moved back and made their home in Oxnard where their 5 sons, Steve(Tami), Kenny (Tammy), Chris (Sam), Joe (Vina) Jimmy (Penny).
Dad worked many jobs over the years to support his family. After years in dry cleaning and drapery cleaning, he started and retired from his own drapery business.
Jim served his El Rio Community and Santa Clara Chapel parish by volunteering in many ways.
He and mom were very active and enjoyed spending time with community and church family who were lifelong friends.
After Beverly died in 2003, Jim bought an RV and travelled the country and made a few cruises with his dear companion Patrica Fontes. In his last years he settled in with his “roomie”, Terry and pup friend Tucker and Dorothy in Ventura.
Beyond his 10 children, Dad’s legacy continues with his 19 grandchildren and their spouses.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and John Henschel, his wife Beverly and his sons Michael, Chris and Joe.
He will be forever in our hearts and his silly quips and quirks will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to visiting hours to be held on Friday evening October 16, 2026 from 4 to 8pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura, where a Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 7pm. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning October 17, 2026 at 9:30 am in Santa Clara Catholic Chapel, 1333 Ventura Blvd, Oxnard. Interment with Military Honors will be Monday October 26, 2026 at 11:00am at Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery, Oxnard.
