Irene Salas, a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026, after a brave battle with ovarian cancer. She was 67 years old.
Born on June 26, 1959, in El Paso, Texas, to Margarita Salas, Irene lived a life defined by warmth, creativity, and determination.
An ambitious entrepreneur, Irene owned multiple successful businesses throughout her life. She was known for her incredible work ethic, but even more so for her vibrant love of life. Wherever she went, Irene brought people together. She thrived when surrounded by family and good friends, filling every room with laughter, hospitality, and connection.
Her spirit of adventure knew no bounds. After growing up in El Paso, Irene made her home in San Diego, California, and eventually traveled the world, living internationally in both Canada and Mexico, as well as parts of New Mexico, before settling down in the charming town of Solvang, California.
Irene had an extraordinary artistic eye and a lifelong passion for textiles and fabrics. A master of her craft, she could design and create almost anything, transforming spaces with her artistic vision, skill, and flair. Simply put, she was amazing at everything she set her mind to.
Irene is survived by her loving mother, Margarita Modabber; her cherished daughter, Georgina Latino; and her siblings, Erik, Tony, and Margia.
Her legacy of hard work, artistic beauty, global adventure, and deep devotion to family and friends will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
