Donna J. (Smyers) Dunmire, 78, of Rochester Mills, PA passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at her home.
The daughter of Lloyd G. and Olive M. (Work) Smyers, she was born on September 5, 1948 in Grant Twp., Indiana County, PA.
Donna was a graduate of Marion Center High School.
On May 10, 1969 she wed Floyd G. Dunmire and they had shared almost fifty-six years of marriage together when he died on May 7, 2025.
Donna retired as a supervisor with the Indiana County Assistance office, where she found employment after graduation and worked for over thirty-three years.
She was a member of the Retired Public Employees of PA, AFSCME Chapter 13, Subchapter 8301.
Donna loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and any of her grandchildren’s sports and activities. She was very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments.
In her leisure time, she could be found enjoying some of her favorite tv shows, such as the Golden Girls; Everybody Loves Raymond; Days of Our Lives and game shows. You knew not to call Donna between 7-8:00 p.m. when her favorite game shows Jeopardy and the Wheel of Fortune were airing.
Donna liked playing Yahtzee with whomever would have the time to sit at the kitchen table and play a game with her.
She had a lifelong fondness for cats. While Molly, an orange and white cat, was the most recent pet addition to her home, the previous cats to grace the Dunmire home with their presence were: Tippy; Sammy; Puddles and Spunky I and Spunky II.
Donna is survived by her two sons: Scott Dunmire and wife Traci of Indiana, PA and Darin Dunmire and wife Cindy of Clymer, PA; her four grandchildren: Haley; Cierra; Brandon and Leah Dunmire; her six siblings: Naomi Cochran of Blairsville, PA; Kenneth Smyers, Sr. of Karthus, PA; Cathy Ritter of Watsontown, PA; Eileen Rougeaux and husband, John of Indiana, PA; Keith Smyers and wife Connie of Marion Center, PA and Kevin Smyers and wife Kenna of Deckers Point, PA and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; three brothers: Robert; Wayne and Dwight Smyers and her sister, Karen Coy.
In respect with Donna’s wishes, there will not be a visitation or service. Private arrangements are with the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA.
Memorial donations may be made to: Four Footed Friends at 220 Beck Road, Indiana, PA, where members of her pet family had been adopted to become a part of the Dunmire home or the Commodore Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 132, Commodore, PA 15729.
