June Ann (Latham) Stephens, 95 of Leicester, died Tuesday September 29th in the Lutheran Home in Worcester. Her beloved husband of 73 years, Donald N. Stephens died in
2024. She is survived by her five children: her sons, Michael J. Stephens and his wife, Laurie of Nebo, NC; James P. Stephens and his wife, Celeste of Leicester; Matthew
T. Stephens and his wife, Lisa of Paxton; and Donald N. Stephens Jr and his wife, Deborah of Auburn; and her daughter, Christine Stephens Tretheway of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Ashley and Derek Stephens, Kelly and Colleen Stephens, Michaella and Courtney Tretheway, and Matthew and Patrick Stephens; and five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Shya, Stratton, Declan and Madison. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Latham and sister, Ruth Dumas.
June was born in Worcester, the daughter of William and Lillian R. (Valley) Latham. She worked in retail sales at Sears and Roebuck furniture for many years before retiring. June will be remembered as an avid golfer who recorded 3 holes in one during her lifetime; in addition, she served as past president of the Hillcrest Country Club Ladies Golf League.
She was an accomplished gardener and shared her talents with all around her. June was heavily involved in the Leicester Lion's Club, where she received the Distinguished Joseph Carmada Service Award, and she served as an advisor to the Leicester Leos-Jr Lion's club.
It was an annual tradition to bring her whole family to the Christmas Caroling Evening with the Lion's Club at the Meadows in Leicester. June also served as the Queen Mother of the Local chapter of The Red Hat Society. June's greatest joy was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren, whether at the beach, the St Patrick's Day parade, at a baseball game, or a golf course. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 3rd from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with her funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Columba Church in Paxton. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
