LACONIA ---- Gerard Joseph Johnson, 84, of Tiffany Drive, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Concord Hospital – Concord.
Gerard was born on April 17, 1942, in New Brunswick, Canada, the son of the late Camille Johnson and Ida (Richard) Johnson.
Gerard was a skilled metal machinist. He owned his own business, GR Machine, Inc., alongside his wife Jeannette. He was a wonderful husband and father. Gerard was a true handyman at heart; someone who could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Whether it was repairing something around the house, tackling a project, or simply showing up when someone needed him, he was the person family, friends, and neighbors knew they could count on. He had a natural ability to figure things out and took great pride in working with his hands. Gerard was always willing to use his skills to help others. No job was too small, and he never hesitated to step in when someone needed assistance. His kindness was shown through his actions. He believed in helping where he could, taking care of the people around him, and leaving things a little better than he found them. He will be remembered not only for all the things he built, repaired, and created, but for the countless ways he showed up for others throughout his life.
Gerard is survived by his loving wife Jeannette (Nowland) Johnson of 61 years; son Richard J. Johnson and his wife Chrystal; brothers Ulysse Johnson, and Leo Johnson; sisters Helena Loso, and Simonne Richard; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-great nieces; and cats Minnie and Mindy. He also leaves behind wonderful friends that helped support Gerard and Jeannette Nancy Hood, Karen Salome and Bob Salome. In addition to his parents, Gerard is predeceased by his sisters Jeannie Ainsly, Elva Richard, Emma Richard, Clara Cook, and Cecile Francoeur.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, in the Carraige House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 5, 2026 at 10:00 am, at St. Andre Bessette Parish – Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH.
A Reception will follow the Mass at Hectors Fine Food and Spirts, 53 Beacon St. W., Laconia, NH.
Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Lambert Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
