Herculano "Kula" DosSantos Oliveira (60) of Avon passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
He was born in Mindelo, São Vicente, Cabo Verde, the son of the late Manuel Luis Oliveira and Paulina Maria DosSantos.
Throughout his life, Kula pursued many different careers and business ventures, including work in real estate, waste management, and the moving industry. Always ambitious and curious to explore different projects, he continually sought new opportunities and goals.
Kula truly enjoyed life. He loved to dance, sing, play soccer in his earlier days, and was often known as the life of the party. He will especially be remembered for his intelligence, outgoing personality, and his unwavering devotion to his family. Kula was always there to offer support, guidance, and advice to those he loved.
Kula is survived by his son, Mauro Oliveira; four daughters, Marlene Oliveira Semedo, Nicole Oliveira, Millenia Oliveira, and Tiana Oliveira; two stepchildren, Kayla Mendes and Marcielle Rocha; three brothers, Gaudencio DosSantos Oliveira, Vicente DosSantos Oliveira, and Luis DosSantos Oliveira; his sister, Vicencia DosSantos Oliveira; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin with a wake on Friday, October 2nd at 9:00 a.m. at the Home of Funerarias Multi Culturel, 238 Court Street, Brockton, MA, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Edith Stein Church, 71 E. Main Street, Brockton, MA at 11:00 a.m. The burial will follow at Melrose Cemetery, 88 N. Pearl Street, Brockton, MA.
