Harrington, Maryellen A. (Buckley) of Hingham formerly of West Roxbury and Redington Shores, Fl. September 26, 2026. Beloved wife of the late John Harrington. Devoted mother of Ellen Zitzler & her husband Edward of Wisconsin, Beth Bailey & her husband Cameron of the Bahamas and John L. Harrington & his wife Barbara of Scituate. Dear sister of the late Fr. Thomas Buckley & John Buckley both of Abington and the late Suzanne Buckley of Keene, NH. A loving Nana to John, Sarah, Grace, Luci, Axel, Jack and Joe.
Maryellen was a retired teacher at Dorchester High School where she also coached softball. She was a past Trustee of the Boston/Strasbourg Sister City Association and managed their high school exchange including the softball games she organized on Boston Common; they were always the hit of the summer program. This led to her first trip to Europe which would be followed by many more.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Affectionately known as Nana, she enjoyed their time, whether at the beach, in the mountains, in Europe and just a relaxing day at home.
Maryellen was a past president of the Sandhillettes, a women’s social organization in Scituate where they raised money for charities but also developed and grew friendships. The highlight was their annual variety show they hosted each summer that was nothing short of pure entertainment and fun.
Visitation at the P.E. Murray-F.J. Higgins, George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 2000 Centre St. West Roxbury on Friday, October 2 from 9:30am-11am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church, West Roxbury at 11:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment private.
