Alice Dorothy “Dot” Webster
Alice (Patrick) Webster, 101, returned home to God on September 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at her son’s home in Lowell. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert L. Webster.
Alice (Dot) was born in Lowell on April 21, 1925. She was the daughter of the late John and Alice (McDonald) Patrick of Dracut. Affectionately known as Babe Patrick by those in the neighborhood, she grew up in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell as one of six siblings. Dot played trumpet as a child for the St. Rita’s Cadets, showcasing her early love of music. As a gifted student, Dot attended St. Michael’s School in Lowell and graduated in 1939. She earned a full scholarship to attend Rosary Academy in Watertown, MA for high school, where she graduated in 1943. Upon her graduation from Rosary Academy, she was awarded a scholarship to attend Regis College, which she unfortunately had to give up due to the financial burden to her family.
In her early life, she worked at Courier Citizen in Lowell, where she met her beloved husband Herbert (Herb). Married for 53 years, they shared a beautiful life together residing in the Highlands section of Lowell, where they raised their five children. Dot and Herb were long time members of the Mt. Pleasant Golf Club. She even had the honor of playing a round of golf with LPGA legend Pat Bradley. Dot and Herb eventually moved their family back to her childhood home on Mammoth Road in Dracut in 1971. They lived there through the late 1980s until they decided to become snowbirds and travel between Florida and New Hampshire. Dot and Herb spent many summers at their lake house on Little Island Pond in Pelham, NH. The “camp” was always filled with their grandchildren swimming, riding bikes, fishing, and having sleepovers. The best part of sleepovers was getting to have one of Dot’s favorite desserts — her homemade blueberry pie with ice cream. Dot and Herb hosted an annual Patrick family reunion, where her siblings and all her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews would come and enjoy their little piece of paradise. Everyone looked forward to going to the camp and Dot loved having her family around. The camp provided a little bit of respite from the hustle and bustle of “life in the city”.
Whether serving as a lector, Eucharistic minister, or visiting the sick, Dot’s faith, kindness, strength, and compassion inspired all who knew her, especially the many youth of St. Rita’s Church, who fondly called her “Ma” Webster. In addition to her time devoted to St. Rita’s, Dot was also a congregant of St. Margaret’s Church in Lowell. When at her summer residence, she was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and when she returned to Florida for the winter, she was an active member of St. Katharine Drexel Church in Cape Coral, FL, as well as St. John XXIII Church in Ft. Myers, FL.
Dot is survived by her four children, Daniel Webster of Dracut and his companion Cheryl Welcome; Bruce Webster of Lowell and his companion Donna Balukas of Brentwood, NH; David Webster and his wife, Nancy, of Pelham, NH; and Karen Webster of Dracut and her partner Michael O’Connor of Kinvara, Ireland. She is also survived by her two foster sons, John Burke of Hudson, NH and Peter Burke of Vestavia Hills, AL. Additionally, she had a daughter-in-law, Mary Webster of Dracut, as well as a son-in-law, James Velazquez of Chelmsford.
In addition to her children, Dot loved and cherished each of her seven grandchildren: Krystal Velazquez of Lowell; Brianne Velazquez of Chelmsford along with her fiancé, Evan Perrone and his daughter, Ava Perrone; Jesse Webster of Pelham, NH and his partner, Elsa Petersohn; Mary Webster of Dracut and her partner, Chris Swenson; Emma Webster of Nashua, NH and her fiancée, Sam Marchelletta; Mariah Lara of California; and Alex Webster of Pelham, NH. Dot also adored her nine great-grandchildren: Aaliya Smith of Chelmsford; Noah Tanguay of Dracut; Jordan Petersohn of Pelham, NH; Ayden Pedrosa of Lowell; Lily and Wyatt Webster of Pelham, NH; and Luna Amaris, Haru Ko, and Kaito Shawn of California. Dot was also the aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews — a title she was very, very proud of.
She was predeceased by her eldest son, Bryan Webster, who passed away in 1972; her beloved husband, Herbert Webster, who passed away in 2002; and her five siblings: John “Donald” Patrick, Arlene (Patrick) Aunchman, Virginia (Patrick) Byrne, Leonard Patrick, and Gerald Patrick.
The family would like to take a moment and thank the following: Sr. Lori Flynne, SND for her years of friendship and weekly visits to give Dot her holy communion, as well as praying over Dot together with her family during her final days; Ana Morales for taking such great care of Dot over the last couple of years; and finally the Tufts Medical hospice team of nurses and aides, who took great care to ensure that Dot was comfortable and well cared for as she made her transition to be with God.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass in honor of Dot on Monday, October 19, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Rita’s Church, 158 Mammoth Road, Lowell, MA. Flowers are welcome and can be delivered to the funeral home on Sunday, or directly to the church Monday morning.
