John Allen “Big Casino” Weirick, 76, of Falls Creek, PA and formerly of Brockway, PA, died Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center in Indiana, PA.
The son of Shirley Louise (Weirick) Smith, he was born on June 22, 1950 in St. Mary’s, PA.
After graduation from Brockway High School, John served four years in the US Marine Corps earning the rank of Sergeant. He was a Vietnam Veteran.
Following a lengthy career as a die setter with Brockway Processed Metals, he served as treasurer for the Gateway Humane Society in Falls Creek, PA prior to his retirement.
John enjoyed stopping in at the Brockway VFW. While residing at the Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA, he earned the nickname as “Big Casino” for his skill and love of playing Texas Hold’Em with residents.
More recently, John was residing at Embassy of Hillsdale Park in Hillsdale, Indiana Co., PA.
John is survived by his four siblings: David Glenn Smith; Mary Ann Ward; James Cornelius Smith and Paul Huey Smith, a number of nieces and nephews; his stepson, Tom Slattery and wife Joanna and his step grandchildren, Shelby and Marley Slattery and his friend, Larissa Santell and her family.
Preceded in death by his mother and his maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Weirick.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
