Evelyn A. (Davies) Leva, a long time Medford resident, passed away on September 24th at Brightview in Wakefield. She was 89. Born and raised in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Evelyn (Dempsey) Davies.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Evelyn loved Hampton Beach so much that she bought a cottage for her and her family to spend time together. She loved to sing and dance, bowl and was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox. A hard worker, she was the controller for Hudson Bus Lines in Medford, and later became a special assistant to the late Middlesex County Commissioner, Thomas Larkin. She then worked with the Middlesex County Sheriff’s office in the civil process division, until her retirement.
She will be fondly remembered for her warm smile, cheerful sense of humor and love of family and friends.
She was the beloved wife of the late William J. Leva and the devoted mother to William Leva Jr. and his wife Steffany, Dennis Leva and his wife Diane, Gail Mastrangelo and her husband Anthony, and Kenneth Leva and his wife Linda. She was the loving grandmother to William Leva III and his wife Sarah, Christine and her partner Emmanuel Marsh, Shauna Allen and her husband Jacob, Eric Leva, Brett Mastrangelo and his partner Alicia Collins, Samantha Leva and step-grandchildren Austin and McKenzie. She was the beloved great grandmother to Camila. She was the dear sister to Ronald Davies, the late Kenneth Davies, John Davies, and Dorothy Murray. She enjoyed a close, friendship with her childhood friends Gilda Ferreira and Ronnie Gormerly.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family on Monday, September 28th from 3-7 PM, at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford and again on Tuesday morning, September 29th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude with a burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
