It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Courtney L. Ahearn. Courtney passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the age of 39. She was born in Winchester, MA on September 17, 1987. She was the daughter of loving parents Sherry (Lundin) and David Ahearn and the cherished sister of Lindsay Ahearn Opsteegh and Stephanie Ahearn Santos.
Courtney received her early education at the New England Pediatric Day School in Billerica, MA. She then attended Crotched Mountain in Greenfield, NH for her middle and high school years, until graduating at 22. After graduating, she spent her days at the Towards Independent Living and Learning (TILL) program in Billerica, MA.
Courtney`s current residence was in a medical group home in Tyngsboro, MA, operated by the Seven Hills Foundation, where she received exceptional and loving care. The staff became a second family to Courtney. She was surrounded by a group of people who deeply cared for her and who continue to care for a group of exceptional adults.
Courtney has faced a myriad of both medical and physical challenges; however, they never kept her from her passions. She was an expert with technology, especially her iPad and computers. She could work her way around the world wide web better than anyone. She used her iPad for communicating, not only her needs, but her interests, as well. She loved to play music and would play her favorite songs loudly and repeatedly. She loved all things Disney and could often be found watching her favorite videos.
Courtney enjoyed sports of all kinds. She loved watching golf and tennis. She participated in the Special Olympics and many adaptive programs, like skiing and biking. She sailed on the Charles River through the Universal Access Program. On Sundays, she loved to go bowling.
Courtney was predeceased by her grandparents, Warren and Shirley Lundin; grandfather Gerard McDonough; and uncle Steven Lundin. She is survived by her parents, Sherry and David Ahearn, of Billerica, MA; sister Lindsay Ahearn Opsteegh of Alpharetta, GA; sister Stephanie Ahearn Santos and her husband, Kenneth, of Dunstable, MA; loving nephews Tyler, Bennett, Deacon, Carter, Harrison, Blake, and niece Saylor; grandmother Reta McDonough of Woburn, MA; aunts and uncles: Sharon Lundin, Greg and Kris Ahearn, Maureen Lundin, Keith and Marisa Lundin, Norman and Debbie Ahearn, and Jerry and Jen McDonough. She also leaves behind many loving cousins and extended family.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Wednesday, September 30th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Thursday morning, October 1st, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at the Woburn United Methodist Church 523 Main St., Woburn, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
