Worcester – Robert J. McDonald, 89 of Worcester, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
Robert was married for 43 years to the late Lois R. (Lucier) McDonald who died on June 16, 2026. He is survived by his five children, John McDonald of Harvard, MA, Linnie Miller of Manchester, NH, Kathy Plummer of Worcester, MA, Robert McDonald of Milford, ME and Michael McDonald of Worcester, MA; a step daughter, Nadine D. DuBois of Barre; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great grandchildren including Tyler DuBois and his fiancé Chelsea King who were loving caregivers to Robert alongside his niece, Brenda Marengo.
Robert was born in Worcester, son of the late Rosaire and Mary A. (Denio) McDonald. He worked for the City of Worcester Parks Department for over 30 years where he took great pride in serving as the caretaker for Elm Park until his retirement.
He was a fan of old movies and especially enjoyed watching westerns and anything with John Wayne, but ultimately, he was the happiest when he was in his own home welcoming anyone that would come by and visit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, September 25 at 11 AM in Saint John’s Church 44 Temple Street Worcester. Interment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 in the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel 33 Ward St. Worcester before leaving in procession to go to the church.
