Alton Nix, Jr., 91, of Chester, NH, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 10, 2026. Born July 19, 1935, in Rome, GA, he was the son of Alton Nix, Sr. and Ethel (Holtzclaw) Nix. He was a longtime resident of Destin, FL.
A proud United States Navy veteran, Alton was a master carpenter by trade. After retiring, he spent several years working at a golf course. An avid golfer himself, Alton enjoyed golfing, fishing, and spending time outdoors. Family was an important part of Alton’s life, and he especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Alton is survived by his daughter, Sharon Loesch of Chester, NH; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty Faye; and several extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie (Carlson) Nix; his children, David and Donna; and his siblings, Theodore and Lillian.
Alton will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery on E. Derry Road in East Derry, NH on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:00am.
