Worcester – Rita J. (Vinton) Chapman, 65, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rita is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Roger L. Chapman Sr.; a son, Roger L. Chapman Jr. and a daughter-in-law, Crystal Ortiz of Worcester, a daughter, Danielle Chapman and a sister, Mylyn Spooner of New York. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren that she cherished, Ethan Chapman, Isabella Chapman, Anthony Chapman and Alexander Francoeur.
Rita was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Warren and Margaret M. (McManus) Vinton and is also predeceased by a brother Warren Vinton Jr.
Mrs. Chapman spent her entire career doing what she loved, caring for the elderly. She recently worked for 28 years at the Hermitage Healthcare Center as a certified Nurse’s Aide.
Rita loved to craft, especially taking her time and perfecting the art of diamond painting. However, she was truly the happiest when she was able to spend time with her family.
A funeral will be held from the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel 33 Ward St. Worcester on Monday, September 21 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Saint Peter’s Church 929 Main St. Worcester (Those wishing to join the family at the funeral home prior to the funeral mass should arrive at the funeral home for 9AM). Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home on Sunday, September 20 from 4 to 6 PM.
