
Mary E. (Maloney) Deiss, age 103, formerly of Norton and Dedham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at the Life Care Center of Raynham. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. Deiss, to whom she was for sixty-four years at the time of his death on November 22, 2016.
Born in Boston, MA on July 1, 1923, she was a loving daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Glover) Maloney.
Mary grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston and was educated in Dorchester Schools. A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Deiss had also worked at the former Lechmere’s in Dedham
A devout Catholic, Mary formerly attended Saint Mary’s Church in Dedham and later worshipped at Saint Anne’s Church in Readville, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.
She also found happiness and joy in volunteering her assistance to the elderly at area nursing homes.
Mary was blessed to have a family that she loved dearly. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and playing cards. Most would remember her as a happy-go-lucking woman, who always maintained a special place in her heart for animals.
She is survived by her devoted children, Karen J. McDonald and her husband Kenneth of Mansfield and Karl F. Deiss and his wife Laura of Dedham. She was the cherished grandmother of Matthew K. McDonald of Mansfield, Robert F. McDonald of Mansfield, David S. McDonald of Dorchester and the late Stephen R. McDonald. She was the dear sister of the late Francis Maloney, Winifred Rankin, Dorothy Puliafico and is also survived by her much-loved nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, September 19th from 9:00-10:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
Following visitation on Saturday morning, a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
