Doris M. “Dorrie” Finch, 93, a resident of Londonderry, NH, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at All American Assisted Living of Londonderry. Dorrie was predeceased in 2012 by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, James Carroll Finch, Sr.
Dorrie was born on August 26, 1933 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Claude and Alice (Devaux) More. She was raised and educated in West Hartford, where she laid a strong foundation for a life dedicated to education and community. She graduated from St. Joseph College and later earned her Master of Education degree from American International University. Dorrie was an active resident of Londonderry since 1978, where she and Jim finished raising their family and built lasting community ties.
For many years, Dorrie dedicated her professional life to nurturing and advocating for children as a special education teacher in the Raymond School District. Her patience, kindness, and unwavering belief in her students left an indelible mark on countless lives prior to her well-earned retirement.
Faith and community were central to Dorrie’s life. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Jude Parish in Londonderry, where she was greatly involved in parish life. She was President of the Parish Council, President of the Women’s Guild, long-time lector, and supporter of the Guild and craft fair.
Away from home and the classroom, Dorrie had a vibrant spirit of adventure. She cherished traveling the globe on numerous trips; especially seeing amazing sights during a cruise to Alaska and enjoying the many regions of France and Italy. Dorrie also loved to experience the magic, music, and spectacle of Broadway shows, most recently in 2024.
Above all, her greatest joy came from the time spent surrounded by her loving family.
Her legacy of love and devotion lives on through her family. Family members include her two daughters, Janet Madison (and partner Florian Duvoisin) of Chester, NH, and Nancy Turner (and husband James) of Manchester, NH; three sons, James Finch, Jr. (and wife Denise) of Nashua, NH, Steven Finch (and wife Donna) of N. Conway, NH, and Thomas Finch (and wife Debra) of Manchester, NH.
Dorrie was the cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren. She and her husband, Jim, were “gold medal” grandparents. They gave each grandchild so much love, support and opportunities for adventure through overnight stays and trips. Dorrie was also the proud great-grandmother of 17 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense light and laughter to her later years. Dorrie is survived by her beloved partner of 11 years, Roland Simard. She and Roland made dear friends at Emerald Reserve where Dorrie loved movie nights, walking, and focus group.
