
Barbara J. Tyler, 93, died September 9, 2026, in Naples, Florida, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Barbara was born in West Roxbury, Massachusetts, on June 16, 1933. While attending Boston University, she began her career at WBZ-TV in the late 1950s. In 1969, she was transferred to KYW-TV in Philadelphia, where she met Alan Morris, her partner and soulmate for the last 56 years.
In 1975, Barbara returned to Boston and joined John Robert Powers, which operated franchised modeling and talent schools throughout the United States. As Executive Vice President, she established franchises in the Philippines, Indonesia, and Japan.
Barbara retired in 2013, and she and Alan subsequently resettled in Naples, Florida.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Norman Tyler, and her mother, Marion (Lyon) Tyler. In addition to Alan Morris, she is survived by her five Godchildren; Mara Williams of Brattleboro, VT; Mark Williams of Hyannis, MA; Jennifer Doherty of Marblehead MA; Julie Doherty Kowalski of Falls Church, VA; and Kathleen Moran Niknezhad of Hanover, MA
Barbara was known for her free spirit, wicked sense of humor and strong work ethic. She loved working with young people.
She was active in community theater and was a life member of Arlington Friends of the Drama.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visiting hours at The Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, Friday, September 18, 9:00 to 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Augustine Chapel (next to funeral home) at 11:00AM. Internment will follow at New Calvary Cemetery.
