Margaret E. “Peggy” Brynild, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 1, 2026, at Certus Memory Care in Mount Dora, FL after a courageous battle with dementia.
Born in Boston, and raised in Wellesley, Massachusetts, she was the devoted daughter of the late Lars and Catherine (Grant) Brynild. She was also the beloved sister of her late “big brother” Lars Brynild, Jr.
Peggy graduated from Wellesley High School, and went on to a very successful career at New England Telephone, and it’s subsequent “transitional” company, which is now Verizon. She eventually retired to the beautiful shores of Flagler Beach, Florida. Peggy, a devoted follower of Christ, was always guided by her faith and desire to serve the Lord. An adventurous soul, Peggy loved tennis, golf, reading and traveling all around the world.
Above all, she was a deeply devoted aunt to her cherished family. Peggy leaves behind her loving nephew, whom she loved like a son, Jay W. Brynild, and his wife Anna, of Groveland, Florida. She is also survived by her loving nieces, Lynne Pellegrino and her late husband Anthony, Luanne Cann, and Lori Shorey and her husband Robert, all residing in Massachusetts. Adored by the younger generations as well, “Aunt Peggy” will be missed by her 11 great-nieces and nephews, and three great great-nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever remember her wonderful sense of humor, and genuine kindness.
Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St, (Rt.16) Wellesley on Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
