Nancy Harrington Corcoran of Westwood, MA passed away on September 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on June 22, 1943, in Wellesley, MA, Nancy was the daughter of the late Gladys Bulger Harrington and James Hazen Harrington. She grew up in Wellesley with her four siblings and graduated from Wellesley High School in 1961. She continued her education at Cardinal Cushing College and earned her Bachelor's degree in American Studies in 1965.
After college, Nancy began her teaching career at Wellesley Middle School where she was introduced to her devoted husband Tom by her friend - and Tom’s identical twin brother - Steve.
Following their wedding in August 1968, Tom and Nancy moved to Natick, where they welcomed their first two daughters, Amy Elizabeth in 1969 and Susan Mary in 1971. In 1974, they built a home in Westwood and were joined by Jean Ellen in 1974 and Laura Ann in 1975. Nancy later returned to teaching, this time at Stoughton Junior High, where she spent 13 years before retiring in 1998.
Tom and Nancy’s 58-year marriage was grounded in their Catholic faith, commitment to family and many shared interests. They enjoyed golf at Norfolk Golf Club, chess, music, and sitting in their beautiful backyard with family. Nancy was a patient, thoughtful listener who also loved to share her clever wit and sense of humor with family and friends. She loved puzzles, historical novels, and playing the piano. Above all, Nancy was a nurturing and fun Nana who enthusiastically encouraged and supported all of her grandsons’ activities and interests.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and James Hazen Harrington, and her sisters, Maureen Gabrielle Harrington and Patricia "Patty" Harrington Joseph.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Thomas Francis Corcoran; her daughters, Amy DiStefano (Jeremy), Susan Corcoran (Brian), Jean Corcoran, and Laura Casale (Jim); her cherished grandsons, James Thomas Casale, Benjamin Louis Casale, and Thomas Jeremy DiStefano; her sister, Janice Harrington Young; her brother, James "Terry" Harrington and his wife Judy; and many loving nieces and nephews. Our family is forever grateful for the dedicated team of caregivers who loved Nancy and supported us over the past year.
