Obituary


Arthur L. Hofmann, 82, of Duxbury, formerly of Orleans, MA and Montclair, NJ, died suddenly on Sept. 20th. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ornell (McDonald) Hofmann. He leaves two children Joseph D. Hofmann of Fairlawn, NJ and Lisa Hofmann of Omaha, NB and three grandchildren, Alyssa and Sydney Hofmann and Clara Endacott.

Art was born in Montclair, NJ on October 30, 1923 to Joseph and Ruth (Lamborn) Hofmann and made his home there for most of his life until he retired to Orleans, MA in 1994. He graduated from Montclair Academy and Wesleyan University. He served as a Naval Aviator in WWII in the Philippines.

After the war, he entered the Advertising field with Cunningham and Walsh. Several years after that, he switched back to the client side working with the Montclair Bank and Trust Company as an investment counselor.

He was an avid golfer and a member of the Montclair Golf Club in Montclair, NJ, Mission Valley Golf Club, Nokomis, FL and later a member of Kings Way in Yarmouthport.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, September 29th at 1 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Salvation Army (location of one’s choice). Arrangements by the Richard Davis Funeral Homes of Plymouth and Manomet.
