Monahan, Robert B. “Bob” of Bellingham and Pocasset, passed away August 27, 2026, at the age of 84. Beloved husband to Sharon for 57 years, wonderful father to Kate and her husband Eric Petterson, and loving grandfather to Grace and Luke Petterson. The son of Jeremiah and Rita, Bob grew up in Newton, graduating from Newton High School. Bob enlisted in the Naval Reserves and served in the Vietnam War before graduating from Boston College. Although he was an only child, Bob was lucky to be close to and grow up with his younger cousins, the Nugents. Bob achieved many dreams in his 84 years as a husband, father, grandfather, entrepreneur, accountant, writer, and inventor with a U.S. patent, but he excelled most in his role as a dad. He loved spending time by the water, traveling, playing golf, watching Boston College football, and spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. He was a member of the Franklin Elks for most of his adult life and joined the American Legion in his retirement years.
Burial will be private at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests supporting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research or the Massachusetts Veterans Home in Chelsea
