Obituary

Donald Leo Rosengard, of Wellesley, age 92, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 30, 2026.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 31, 1934, to Helen and Hyman Rosengard, Don attended Boston Latin, graduated from Newton High School, and attended the University of Maine until he joined the United States Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Throughout his life, Don was dedicated to his family; an engaged son, brother, nephew, and cousin. His career centered around sales management and in his retirement, he volunteered with AARP.  Don loved watching Boston sports and traveling both nationally and internationally—especially the family summer trips to New Hampshire and Cape Cod.  He lit up around babies and children and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Don was preceded in death by his father and mother, and by his younger sister, Natalie Rosengard.  He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Joan Rosengard, and his children Karen Benoit (partner, Paul Keyes), Alan Rosengard (wife, Jane), and Cynthia Rosengard.  He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Renee Newcomb, Steven Benoit (wife, Randi), Alicia Benoit, Thomas Benoit (wife, Caitlin), Daniel Rosengard (wife, Kate), Samantha Rosengard, Elyssa Rosengard, Owen Swayze, and Sadie Swayze; and by his nine great-grandchildren: Braydan, Madison, Isabella, Maximus, Michael, Gavin, Miriam, Lily, and Jackson.

Don will be most remembered for his steadfast love for Joan, his quiet presence, and his love of family.

A celebration of life memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Don’s memory be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Good Shepherd Community Care.
