Wiley J. Evans, 92, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, September 5, 2026, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Charlie Solomon and the Rev. Tom Braziel officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services in the chapel on Saturday.
Mr. Evans was born December 23, 1933, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late John Malcolm & Emma Viola Brock Evans. He attended Emory School in western Ben Hill County and was a graduate of Fitzgerald High School. He was a lifelong farmer who took great pride in working his family land. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Charlene Jarchow Evans of Fitzgerald; two sons: Mark & Dana Evans of Statesboro and David & Cristina Evans of Fitzgerald; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Evans of Appleton, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Kristen & Bobby Jacobs, Anna Beth Evans, Sarah Evans, Raines & Matthew Mathis, Riley & Jillian Evans, and Cora Lee Evans; and a great-grandson, Steven Edward Jacobs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen J. Evans; a great-grandson, Alexander Robert Jacobs; and 13 brothers and sisters.
