Sylvia “Jean” Martin, 89, of Tifton passed away Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton. A graveside funeral service will be held for Ms. Martin on 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Fletcher Cemetery in Alapaha, where she will be laid to rest. Brother William Hendricks will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the graveside at Fletcher Cemetery in Alapaha from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Born October 29, 1937, in Enigma, Ms. Martin was the daughter of the late George Eston Martin and Irene Walker Martin. In addition to her parents, she was precede in death by one sister, Ruth Martin. She retired from Chickasha in Tifton; and she was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Enigma.
Ms. Martin is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sheri Dorminy of Alapaha; and four grandchildren, Brittny Devine and her husband Ryan of Atlanta, and Braydon Dorminy, Kadence Dorminy and Daniel Dorminy, all of Alapaha.
