Dorothy Peckham Morrison, of Lord's Point, Stonington, the loving wife of Frank Morrison passed away on Sunday at her home with her family at her side, after a long illness of cancer.
Dorothy was born September 21, 1921, in Norwich, Connecticut, the daughter of Everett S. Peckham and Evah Atwood Peckham. She attended school in Norwich and at Norwich Free Academy before the family moved to Wollaston, MA in 1938 where she graduated from North Quincy High School in 1940.She was employed by City Service Oil Company for two years.
Dorothy married Frank A. W. Morrison in 1943 and had a son Robert Frank and a daughter Anne.
She was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables and in her youth spent many summers at Bluff Point with her family until the Hurricane of 1938 destroyed Bluff Point. She has made many visits to Bluff Point over the years.
She is preceded in death by her father Everett, her mother Evah, her brother Everett Jr. and her sister Marie Adams.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Frank, her son Robert and his wife Laurel, her daughter Anne, her sister Rose Peckham Sawyer and her husband Richard V., sister-in-law Melvia Sears, her Aunt Ora Gilbert of Norris, CT,her granddaughter Jessica and her husband Paul Theriault, two grandsons John and Mark Polizzio, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mystic, Connecticut. She sang in the choirs of the Wollaston Methodist Church, the Stoughton First United Methodist, the Norwalk Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Mystic. While in Stoughton, Massachusetts, she directed the Youth Choir for several years.
Dorothy was one of the Organizers of the Bluff Point 50th Reunion held at Bluff Point in 1998. She was a member of the Faith Trumbull Chapter of the DAR Inc., the Mayflower Society of Connecticut, the Rhode Island Genealogy Society, the Connecticut Genealogy Society and the George Soule Society.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church, Mystic on Friday at 11am. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
