Anne (Curran) Knight, age 96, of Natick, formerly of East Boston and Wellesley, passed peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 28, 2026.
Wife of the late Joseph (Joe) Knight, Anne leaves behind her children, John (Joyce) Knight of Natick and Gloucester, Adrienne (Gary) Knight Weaver of Hudson, Jamie (Dawn) Knight of Lynn, Allison Knight Griffin of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren Tyler Griffin of Denver, Colorado, and Kylie Griffin of Boston; and her sister, Sister Adrienne Curran (SND), of Plymouth.
She is now reunited with her adored family members who predeceased her: husband Joseph (Joe) Knight, Jr., son Joseph (Jay) Knight, III., infant daughter Leslie Anne, parents Edith and Patrick Curran, and brothers John (Jack) Curran, M.D. and James (Jimmy) Curran.
Born in Chelsea in 1930, Anne owes her formidable education—and superb penmanship—to the Sisters of Notre Dame (SND) at Fitton Central High School in East Boston, where she graduated in 1946. She went on to study voice at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. While working for Proctor & Gamble in the 1950s, she also maintained a busy schedule of singing engagements, including a campaign event for then-Senator John F. Kennedy.
Devoted to her Catholic faith, Anne performed as a church soloist for most of her adult life. She also lent her time and talents to local choirs, where her beautiful soprano voice echoed in St. Theresa's Church in Sherborn and Sacred Heart Church in South Natick.
Anne also relished life's simple pleasures, whether it was watching Turner Classic Movies, spoiling her Jack Russells and grand-dogs with treats, savoring a piping-hot cup of black coffee, completing her morning crossword, following the ups and downs of Boston's sports teams, or delighting in the accomplishments of her grandchildren, Tyler and Kylie.
Never one to simply say "goodbye," Anne was fond of parting with a cheerful "toodle-oo," a traditional Curran family farewell. In that spirit, we say "toodle-oo!" to our cherished mother, sister, nana, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend.
The Knight family expresses their deep appreciation to the wonderful doctors, internists, nurses, personal care aides, ICU team, and Good Shepherd Hospice at Newton-Wellesley Hospital for the compassion, comfort, and care they provided Anne over the years.
Visitation at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. Wellesley on Wednesday, September 2, from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, September 3, at 10am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church, Sherborn at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Anne's name can be made to some of her favorite charities, including St. Mary's Mission School, Mahpiya Luta (Red Cloud Indian School), and the MSPCA.
