Obituary

Linda Uhlar died peacefully on August 19, 2026 at home, surrounded by her loving
husband, Chuck, her son Mark, and sister-in-law Susan and Sharon.

Linda was born June 14 1951 in Boston, MA, to Alfred and Jean Hallfelder. She had five
siblings, Paul, Jeanne, Katherine, Diane, and David. She especially cherished the time she had
spent with her maternal grandparents, while growing up in South Boston. Due to difficult
circumstances, Linda had left home early, after graduating from high school, and had to forge
her own unique path.

She lived at, and graduated from Boston City school of Nursing in June 1973, and had a
long and distinguished nursing career that included working at Carney Hospital in Dorchester,
St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and for Volunteers' in Service to America (VISTA) in
Memphis, Tennessee. Linda also worked at the clinic for the homeless at Boston’s Pine Street
inn—a job that was dear to her heart, since having had the painful experience of homelessness
as a young woman.

Giving birth to her son Mark, and being a wife and mother, despite the challenges, was
the highlight of Linda’s life.

In retirement, Linda found great pleasure in painting flowers and landscapes, cooking,
crossword puzzles, and listening to good music. She was an avid reader, finishing a book every
seven to ten days. Although shy, Linda had a beautiful and infectious smile that could light up a
room. She was also a spiritual person, who had a deep wellspring of faith and compassion.
Having struggled for a number of years with declining health, Linda’s last days were spent at
home with her loving family by her side.

Linda left an indelible mark for the better on those who got to know her and she will be
greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
