Robert Bruce Innes Jr.
Devoted Brother, Son and Uncle
Robert Bruce Innes Jr, a lifelong resident of Andover and beloved brother of Kevin and Duane Innes, passed away unexpectedly at Andover Manor on Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was 66 years old.
Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on December 23, 1959, Robert Jr. was the beloved son of the late Robert Bruce Innes and Barbara Ann (Emmons) Innes.
During his early years Robert and his family lived in Salem, NH. In 1965, the family moved to Andover MA to a home our father built. Robert was raised in the town of Andover. As a young boy, he spent time on the YMCA swim team and took piano lessons for many years. In 7th grade he was a member of the square dance club and had his first job working at Bishops restaurant in Lawrence. Robert was a strong student in school and was continually on the High Honor Roll each year through the 9th grade. Robert had many health challenges over the years and yet continually persevered. He was very proud to graduate from Andover High School in 1979.
Robert loved music and learned to play the piano and guitar at an early age. He loved attending music concerts in the Boston area in the 80’s, 90’s and later years with his twin brother Kevin and younger brother Duane. Robert also enjoyed attending sporting events including Celtics, Bruins and Red Sox games. He really enjoyed meeting the stars at sports signing events and getting pictures and autographs.
In the summertime, Robert enjoyed road trips up the Atlantic coast and canoeing and swimming in state parks in New Hampshire with his family.
After our dad’s retirement in 1996, Robert enjoyed many family drives throughout New England and across the country. He visited many places in between including Duane’s family in Washington State and was his best man (with Kevin) at Duane’s wedding.
Robert had a friendly attitude towards everyone he met. He always loved his family very much. He enjoyed eating out at many eateries including Hilltop Steak House, China Blossom, Riley’s & Kelly’s Roast Beef, Newick’s Seafood, Kimball’s Ice Cream Store and Grassfield’s in Andover.
Over the years, he loved listening to all his music CD’s and DVD’s and singing along. He played all his favorite songs on his electronic piano.
Robert loved celebrating the Christmas holiday season including his birthday in December every year. He would decorate his room and the family home to celebrate the season.
In 2024, we lost our father to Parkinson’s disease. Earlier this year we lost our mother at 90 years old. Although that was a difficult time for all of us, Robert took it especially hard. Robert, our dear brother, was a very loving, caring and devoted brother and uncle. He will be dearly missed.
Robert, went to be with God on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ann Innes, and father, Robert Bruce Innes. Robert is survived by his twin brother Kevin, brother Duane, sister-in-law Carmen, his niece Kristin (Bonnie), his nephew James (Arielle), his great-niece Aspen and his great-nephew Logan.
We would like to thank all the staff at Andover Manor for their love, care, and support for our dear brother over the past year. Your love and kindness in taking care of Robert is very much appreciated.
His graveside service will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, 5 Spring Grove Road, Andover on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 11 AM. Reception to follow.
