Alfred Christopher Cardi, 57, passed away on July 28, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by family who loved him deeply.
Al was born on October 6, 1968, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Alfred and Louise (Burdick) Cardi. He grew up in Cranston and Warwick and graduated from Pilgrim High School. Al later moved with his parents and brother to Southwest Florida, where he spent most of his adult life. Most recently, Al made his home in North Providence.
Al lived a happy adult life in Southwest Florida filled with family, friendship, faith, and adventure. He loved the warmth of Florida life, traveling, exploring, riding his golf cart with his dog, and sharing everyday adventures with the people he loved. His years there were filled with laughter, animals, music, family gatherings, and many joyful memories.
Alfred was one of the most gentle, loving, and God loving people anyone could ever know. He had a pure heart and a peaceful spirit. Everywhere Al went his love radiated. He brought joy, warmth, laughter, and gentleness into every room simply by being himself. To his family and to the many lives he touched, Al was truly a Light of God.
His faith was central to his life, and he deeply loved his church family. Sharing love with others came naturally to Al. Through his faith, he found friendship, belonging, worship, and a community united by a shared love for God.
Al showed all of us a better way to live life. Through his faith, gentleness, innocence, and unconditional love, Al taught others to look beyond differences, to find happiness in simple moments, and to place the Spirit of God, family, kindness, and love above everything else. Al did not measure life by status or achievement, he measured it by love, and by that measure, his life was immeasurably abundant.
Al loved his family completely, and his family loved him beyond words. He treasured family gatherings, familiar voices, close friendships, and the simple happiness of being surrounded by those he loved. His presence had a way of reminding others what matters most in life.
A gifted artist, Alfred expressed his creativity throughout his life. He was an active participant at The Artists Exchange in Cranston, where he shared his love of art and enjoyed being part of a creative community. He also found joy in ceramics, yoga, acting, gardening, and the many activities that allowed his personality and imagination to shine.
Bonnet Shores held many special memories for Al throughout his life. As a child, he enjoyed days on the beach riding waves on his boogie board. As an adult, he continued to treasure time at Bonnet Shores relaxing with family and friends, sharing meals, enjoying the restaurant, dancing to live music, and taking in the happiness of being together.
Al was predeceased by his beloved parents, Alfred and Louise Cardi.
Al is survived by his siblings, Pamela (Larry), Marianna, and Christopher (Alicia); his nieces, Lauren, Isabelle, Olivia (Billy), and Vivian; and his nephew, Zachariah.
Alfred’s family would like to offer their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who loved Al and brought friendship, care, faith, and happiness into his life. Al’s family would like to thank the staff at Gateways to Change, Inc., and his friends Orlando and Christopher.
Burial will be private, and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
Alfred will be remembered not only for the things he loved, but for the extraordinary love he gave so freely. His faith, innocence, humor, creativity, gentleness, and beautiful spirit were gifts to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Al, you were a blessing to this world, a Light of God wherever you went, and a source of immeasurable love and joy to your family. You showed us a better path, and you will be loved, missed, and remembered forever.
