Obituary

Sina Chan So, 67, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, following complications from an illness, with her loving family by her side.

Sina was born on September 1, 1958, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to the late Phan Chan and the late Traporn (Tramam) Chan. She was one of twelve children and was raised in Cambodia.

During the war period in Cambodia in the 1980s, Sina left her homeland in search of a better life. She came to the United States in October of 1981, initially settling in Revere, Brigeport (Connecticut), Lowell, Methuen, and Lawrence before eventually making her home in Newton, New Hampshire, where she lived for more than 20 years.

Sina shared 46 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Daniel B. So. They were married in Thailand and built a life together centered around their family. A devoted homemaker, Sina dedicated herself to caring for her home and loved ones.

Her faith was an important part of her life. Sina was a longtime member of Jerusalem Cambodian Evangelical Church, where she was a member for more than 10 years.

Sina found great joy in gardening. It was one of her favorite pastimes, and she took pride in tending to her garden and watching things grow. Above all, she cherished her family and the time she spent with them.

In addition to her husband, Daniel, Sina is survived by her two children, Samuel So of Concord, New Hampshire, and Esther Wong and her husband, Sambo, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; her six grandchildren, Sylvyanna, Elijah, Jennielynn, Jaylin, Nikolai, and Kylian; and her siblings, Vannary, Vannarith, Bunthan, and Poe. She was predeceased by several of her siblings.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, followed by a service at 12 p.m. Burial will take place at Westlawn II Cemetery in Lowell.
