Obituary

LONDONDERRY – Kenneth Earl Young, 97, of Londonderry, NH, passed away peacefully at his home, August 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Ken was born in Manchester, NH on May 6, 1929, a son of the late Eugenia (Ringenwald) and Harry Young. He grew up in Manchester and attended West High School. He joined the Army in 1946 and served in the 501st Air Force Band stationed in Hawaii for 3 years, being honorably discharged from the Air Force. After obtaining his GED, he graduated from Bentley School of Accounting and Finance in 1951.

Ken lived in Londonderry for 54 years in the home he built for his family in 1972.

Ken is survived by his son, Andrew and wife Claudette of Freeman, ME, and his daughters Sandra and husband Ken Fongeallaz of Londonderry, and Debra and husband Glen Bolser of Bedford, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years Betty (Kenney) in 2024 and sons Michael in 2017 and Thomas in 2024. He was also predeceased by three brothers and two sisters Ralph, Howard, Bernard, Ruth and Agnes, and their spouses.

During his lifetime he was employed with New Hampshire Insurance in Manchester, where he met his loving wife. He then worked at Workplace Systems in Londonderry for most of his career, retiring as Treasurer.

He was member of Knights of Columbus council 5260 for over 50 yrs, where he held positions including Grand Knight and Financial Secretary. He played trumpet in a big band and small groups for 30 years. He also volunteered to play taps at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery in Boscawen for 10 years. He loved traveling and was fortunate enough to take many vacations with family and friends. He loved bowling and playing golf, which he was still participating at 96 years young. He loved spending time with family and the annual Young Family reunions.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held Monday, August 31, 2026, from 4 to 7pm, at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd, Londonderry, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 1st at 10:00am at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, NH. The burial will be held Wednesday, September 2nd at New Boston Cemetery, New Boston, NH at 11:00am.
