Sandra L. “Sandy” (Burris) Stevens, age 81, a lifelong resident of Tewksbury and a member of the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, transitioned peacefully in the care of her family and hospice on Wednesday evening, August 19th, 2026.
Beloved wife of Charles A. Stevens, with whom she celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on April 16th, 2026.
Born in Tewksbury on November 21st, 1944, daughter of the late William R Burris, Sr. and the late Catherine I. (Morris) Burris.
Sandy attended Tewksbury public schools and graduated from Tewksbury High School in 1962.
Prior to her retirement in 2002, she worked for 20 years for the Town of Tewksbury in the Water Department and later the Building Department.
She enjoyed working on puzzles, diamond art projects, gardening, bird watching, and playing penny slots, visiting area casinos, including Lincoln Park in Rhode Island. Most of all, Sandy enjoyed time spent with her Family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: Kimberly A. DiCiaccio and her husband Steven, of Billerica; Robert A. Stevens, of Hudson, NH (Bonus daughter) Michelle L. Stevens; and Sharlene M. Chaffee and her husband John, of Worcester; six grandchildren, Ashley, Zachary, Brian, Jessica, Jake, and Bailey: six great grandchildren whom she referred to as her babies: One sister and best friend, Catherine I. (Katie) Mazzuchi and her late husband Leo, of Tewksbury: one brother, William R. Burris Jr. and his wife Judy of Tewksbury. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Calling hours are Tuesday, August 25th, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. Her funeral procession will begin on Wednesday, August 26th, at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by funeral services to be held at 10 a.m. at the Tewksbury United Methodist Church, 2335 Main Street (corner of Main and South Streets).
