MANCHESTER ---- Robert John "Bobby" Boyle passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026 after a long illness. A lifelong lover of baseball, history, books, music, and conversation, Bobby lived a life defined by curiosity, humor, and an enduring appreciation for the people and experiences that brought him joy.
Born on April 8, 1953, at the St. Albans Naval Hospital in Queens, New York, Bobby spent most of his life in New Hampshire. He attended Pembroke Academy, where he excelled in soccer, basketball, and baseball before continuing his education at Plymouth State University and Keene State College, where he played for both college baseball teams. Earning the nickname “Strong-Armed Bob,” his love of sports lasted a lifetime—from pitching his way to a state championship in New Hampshire’s American Legion Baseball, to playing in the Concord Men’s Sunset League, to faithfully cheering on his beloved Yankees, Celtics, and Patriots.
Bobby worked alongside his father and brother in the family business, Boyle Associates, before later owning a used bookstore in Concord, NH. An avid reader and history buff, Bobby was especially fascinated by Julius Caesar, Abraham Lincoln, and the events that shaped our world.
He found joy in the simple things: music (Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Kinks especially), lively conversations, historic battlefields, and visits to the White Mountains, Lake Winnipesaukee, and York Beach. Bobby never met a stranger and was known for his quick wit, generous spirit, and ability to make anyone feel like a friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Mallory Boyle (George) Enos of Washington, D.C., and Julia Boyle of Manchester, New Hampshire; his siblings Denise (Mark) Van der Voort, Anne (George) Yankopoulos, and Thomas (Noelle) Boyle; many nieces and nephews; and Patty Roy, the mother of his children and his lifelong friend. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Janice Boyle.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bobby's memory to the Prospects Athletics Foundation, 159 Frontage Road, Manchester, NH 03103, in support of youth baseball and softball.
A Committal Service will be held at Bayside Cemetery on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life.
