Patricia Evelyn (MacDonald) Rundgren, 83, of Tewksbury, known affectionately to all as "Patsy" or "Pat," died peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at her home on Knollwood Road, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Thorburn, Nova Scotia, Canada, on April 11, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Fraser MacDonald, also of Thorburn, and the late Myrtle (MacDonald) MacDonald, of New Waterford, Nova Scotia. Patsy spent her childhood in Nova Scotia and was thirteen when her family moved to Belmont, Massachusetts, seeking better opportunities and the chance to be closer to relatives. She graduated from Belmont High School and later made Tewksbury her home for the rest of her life.
Patsy was the beloved wife of the late Bruce Rundgren, who passed away in 2022 after fifty eight years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in family, and she carried his memory with her every day thereafter.
For many years, Patsy worked in the Domestics department at Stuarts in Tewksbury, and later spent a number of years with Head Start in Lowell. She then joined Global Ware Solutions in Bradford, where she worked in quality control for fifteen years before her retirement.
She was a gifted candlepin bowler, a passion that spanned more than sixty years and brought her countless tournament victories, including state championships. Her competitive spirit carried over to a good game of bingo and to the slot machines, and she was a devoted fan of all the Boston sports teams. Patsy also had a deep and tender love for animals. She faithfully fed the birds and squirrels, and no creature that wandered into her yard ever went away hungry.
Above all, Patsy will be remembered for her sweetness. She was kind, unfailingly positive, and quick to put the needs of others before her own. Everyone who met her loved her, and she leaves behind a family and a circle of friends who will miss her deeply.
She is survived by her children, Debra Burns and her husband, John, of Longs, SC, and Bruce Rundgren, Jr., of Lowell. She is also survived by her cherished grandcats, Bobo and Scarlett, and her granddogs, Titus and Trhea, who were as much a part of her family as anyone. She was predeceased by her siblings, Murdena Leil and Douglas MacDonald.
