Worcester – Jason C. Guittar, 50, of Worcester, passed away with family and friends by his side on Monday, August 17, 2026 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jason is survived by his mother, Maria L. Salazar of Worcester; a brother, Todd M. Guittar and his partner, Kiernan Dobrosky of Peterborough, NH; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, including James Guittar and his wife, Christina. James was like a second brother to Jason as well as being a caregiver.
Jason was born in Worcester, and is predeceased by his father, James Guittar. He graduated from South High Community School in 1993 and continued his education attending Providence College and then earning his bachelor’s degree from Assumption College. Jason furthered his education by attaining a master’s degree from Clark University.
Jason went to work for the City of Worcester Public Schools as a school teacher and spent his entire 28 years at his alma mater, South High Community School as a Spanish teacher retiring in 2025 due to illness.
Jason never missed an opportunity to attend a Phish concert and he was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots, but ultimately the thing that brought him the most enjoyment and fulfillment was being with and helping the students of South High.
The funeral will be held on Monday, August 24, from the Alfred Roy & Sons – Henry Funeral Service Memorial Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Peter’s Church 931 Main Street Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 23 from 4 to 6 PM in the funeral home.
