Obituary

Peter Klaus Spiers
July 7, 1947 – August 5, 2026
Peter Klaus Spiers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather, friend, veteran, educator, and devoted helper to others, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, at Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, Massachusetts, following a courageous nearly three-year battle with dementia. He was 79 years old.
Peter was born on July 7, 1947, in Kastle, Germany. He was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and spent most of his life in Lynn, Massachusetts, a community he proudly called home.
Peter proudly served his country as a United States Navy veteran. He dedicated much of his professional life to educating and helping young people through his work with Lynn Public Schools. He was also a talented and hardworking contractor who built his own business from the ground up through determination, skill, and an incredible work ethic.
But Peter's greatest accomplishment was not found in a job title or a business. It was in the way he treated people.
Peter was the kind of man who would literally give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar without giving it a second thought. His entire life was about helping others. He gave his time, his knowledge, his strength, and his heart freely to anyone who needed him.
He especially enjoyed helping the youth at the Plummer Youth Promise program in Salem, spending time at the Lynn Senior Center with his wife and friends, gardening, being outdoors and surrounded by nature, taking rides to Nahant, and most of all, spending time with his family. He found joy in the simple moments and in being there for the people he loved.
Peter was the beloved son of the late Ursula Spiers and Joseph Spiers of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and brother of the late Wolfgang Eberling of Germany.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Susan Spiers of Lynn; his daughter, Gina Spiers of Lynn; his son, Peter J. Spiers of Lynn; his daughter, Crystal Paradis, and son-in-law, Marcel Paradis, both of Springvale, Maine; his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Carmody and Brandon Spiers, both of Lynn; his godson, Kevin Sweeney; his sister, Mary Spiers of Utah; his nephews, Jimmy McDonald and Sean McDonald, along with their families in Indiana; and his beloved bestest buddy, Oliver. ??
Peter leaves behind a lifetime of memories and countless people whose lives were touched by his kindness, generosity, humor, wisdom, and willingness to help.
To his family, he was so much more than a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a source of strength, love, guidance, and unconditional support. His presence made people feel cared for, and his absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled.
While we take comfort in knowing that Peter is now at peace and in a better place, there are no words that can truly express how deeply he will be missed.
His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, former students, coworkers, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

A devoted husband.
A loving father.
A proud grandfather.
A Navy veteran.
A teacher.
A builder.
A friend.
A man who spent his life helping others.
Peter's greatest legacy is the love and kindness he gave so freely.
