Sandra M. “Sandy” Leone, age 86, of Medford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 11th, at the John Scott House Rehabilitation & Nursing Center of Braintree. Raised and educated in Boston’s North End, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. and Rose M. (Martini) Leone. Sandy was a graduate of Julie Billiart High School and moved to Medford while still in her teens.
Sandy was born to shop and to cook. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, and as a fundraiser for Listening Place in Lynn. Sandy was employed for 25 years at the Marriott in Copley Square as a sales associate, and later worked for 10 years at Kohl’s, until her retirement at age 80.
Sandy was the devoted mother of Michael Dasaro and his partner Joseph Caputo of Quincy, extended family of the Caputo and Kelly’s of South Boston and the dear friend of Alfonse Ferreira and Rose Odabashian. She was an only-child, but grew up in the North End with many cousins who were more like brothers and sisters.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in St. Leonard Church, Hanover St., Boston, on Saturday, September 19th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be private. Attendees are encouraged to arrive in time to find a parking spot and make their way to the church.
