Nellie Faye Minshew Odom, 95, of Turner County, Georgia, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Legacy Village in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with her nephews, Alan Odom and Greg Vickers officiating. Interment will follow in Young Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home chapel on Thursday.
Mrs. Odom was born July 21, 1931, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Isbon Player & Martha Jane Smith Minshew. She attended Emory School in Ben Hill County, Georgia. She was a homemaker and a farm wife and enjoyed working on the farm with her husband. She took great pride in her yards and was known to many as the Daylily Lady for the beautiful flowers she tended. She will be remembered for her cooking as well, especially her pecan pies. She was a member of Hawpond Baptist Church.
She is survived by a sister, Betty Lou Vickers Royal (Lamar) of Irwin County along with a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the compassion shown to Mrs. Odom by her caregivers, Faye Ann Johnson Davis and Geneva Stafford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe L. Odom; a daughter, Kansas Joyce Odom; a brother, I.P. Minshew, Jr.; and a sister, Mildred Joyce Minshew Fowler.
