Bobbie Jean Carver Reeves McIntyre, 91, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 16, 2026. She is HOME with her Lord and friends/ family who have gone on before her. Heaven gained another angel and what a grand celebration there must have been. She had a determined strength and willpower like no other. She never lost her zest for life, her smile, her joking around, and her sense of humor and her stubbornness even at the end of her journey.
Her ‘home going’ service will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 4:00pm at Irwinville Baptist Church with the Reverend David Biggers officiating. The following gentlemen consider it their honor and last gift they can give her to serve as her pallbearers: Phil Stokes, Jason Stokes, P J Stokes, Xander Stokes, Glenn Stokes, and Hugh Carver as they honor her. Interment will follow at Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church sanctuary.
Bobbie Jean was born November 28, 1934, to the late Henry Clay & Vera Templeton Carver. She was an honor graduate of the Senior Class of 1951 from Ocilla High School. She was married for 25 years to Bobby Reeves and they raised 3 children. Bobbie Jean was extremely talented and hard working not only in the home cooking, sewing, canning and freezing vegetables from their gardens but, she also worked on the farm in the fields growing and gathering their crops. After her divorce, she was faced with having to support herself, so she went back to school and graduated from Ben Hill Irwin Technical Institute in September, 1977 with 2 diplomas –one in Secretarial program of study and one in Accounting program of study. For several years she owned and operated her own professional bookkeeping service at her home.
Bobbie Jean was single for the next 25 years and then had the honor to marry Neal Waldo McIntyre, Jr. of Irwinville on May 30, 2002. The next 7 years their precious time together was spent loving and caring for each other, traveling, cooking, and working in their yard and flowers. Since Waldo was a World War II veteran, they enjoyed traveling and spending time with other veterans/ friends at meetings and conventions.
During her lifetime she was an active member of Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church and Irwinville Baptist Church where she generously gave her time through teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, GA’s, mission work and numerous church activities. She loved Gospel music! She and her friends would take her elderly mother to Gospel sings around the surrounding communities.
She is survived by her children: Gail and Phil Stokes of Fitzgerald, Wanda Reeves of Lake Park; six grandchildren –Nancy (Cameron) Hines; Jason (Jennifer) Stokes, Laura (Doug) Brooks, Heather (Clint) Branch, Melissa (Jason) Smart, and Amanda Stokes; 5 great-grandchildren—PJ Stokes, Xander Stokes, Elizabeth Hines, Anna Grace Branch, and Brooklyn Smart; a brother and sister-in-law--Hugh (Bobbie Jo) Carver of Lizella; and a sister-in-law, Jo Ann Carver of Atlanta; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Waldo McIntyre, Jr; her son, William Bobby Reeves II, her first husband, Bobby Reeves, her brother, Billy Carver, and her sister, Janet Stripling.
Thank you to her sitters, her nurses for the compassionate care given to her during the many years of her being bed ridden (she loved and appreciated you all).
A HUGE thank you to two special friends for lots of fun times spent together--Cheryl Cleghorn (for giving her much needed massages) and Gail Martin (her TV wrestling partner) for those many long nights of watching and cheering for her favorite wrestlers. She was an avid Wrestling fan and even at 90 she could still remember all of their names!!
What a testament her life was and we as her family are blessed and will cherish our memories. She never wavered in her support or love for her family!
In our minds and hearts she will be present with us everyday as our guardian angel.
