Tim Woods, 74, formerly of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, August 16, 2026, at his residence in St. Mary’s, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM, Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Crossview Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Dusty Stoey and the Rev. Jeff Parmer officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Woods was born January 12, 1952, in Tifton, Georgia, to the late Herbert H. & Merlene Baker Woods. He was a 1970 graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He began his career working at First State Bank and later worked with his father at G.B. Woods & Sons. He retired from Delco Remy/Delphi Automotive with 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he owned and operated Colony Cargo, LLC for 13 years. Mr. Woods loved to work and enjoyed reading books of all subjects. He was an avid Purple Hurricane fan. He was a member and Deacon of Crossview Baptist Church where he also taught Sunday school.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandy Calhoun Woods of St. Mary’s, formerly of Fitzgerald; daughters: Cherilyn & Will Oliver of St. Mary’s and Dede & Jesse Mickel of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Alli Oliver, Macy Barfield, Emily & Chase Miller, Tate Cowan, Ty Cowan, and Blake Bennett; a great-granddaughter on the way, Collyns Miller; a sister, Chris & Carroll Wells of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Debbie Woods, Cherry & David Carter and Debby Downing, all of Fitzgerald; his step-father, Bill Leggett of Fitzgerald; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Woods; a sister, Jan Woods Morris; and a nephew, Mac Woods.
