Obituary

Michael J. Dutra, Sr., age 76, of Berkley, formerly of East Taunton, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at the Hope Health Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Joyce K. (Kelly) Dutra, to whom he was wed for nearly forty years.

Born in Taunton, MA on July 3, 1950, he was a loving son of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Silvia) Dutra.

Mike grew up in East Taunton and was educated in Taunton public schools. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Prior to retiring, he worked for Carlin Contractors and previously was employed as a Construction Superintendent at Westcott Construction. He worked very hard in his life to support his family, whom he loved dearly.

Mike’s family were communicants of Holy Family Church in East Taunton and he was also a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 67 in Boston. He treasured the times getting his family together for gatherings and cookouts and his hobbies included camping, fishing and enjoyable times spent at the beach.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Herbert J. Flint, III and his girlfriend Karen Walsh of Berkley, Michael J. Dutra of Berkley, Matthew B. Dutra and his fiancé Carol Schuttauf of Berkley and the late Eric J. Flint. He was the cherished grandfather of Tyler Flint and his wife Grace of Berkley, Montana Flint of Berkley, Emilee Dutra of Berkley, the late Christopher Flint and was the treasured great grandfather of Harper Flint of Berkley. He was the dear brother of Sandy Dutra Kullas of Wareham and the late Ronald Dutra and Judy Lima. He is also survived by his much-loved nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, August 22nd from 9:00 A.M. -12:00 Noon at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 17 Main Street (Route 105, at the Middleborough line) in Lakeville.

A funeral service will be held at the conclusion of visitation at 12:00 Noon at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Berkley Common Cemetery in Berkley.

In lieu of flowers. Michael’s family has requested that contributions in his memory be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 55 North Lake Avenue, Worcester, MA 01655.
